I began watching the series after it was recommended to me by someone who had seen the first episode. I plodded through season after season, episode after episode, waiting for interesting storyline. Plots were all the same and after about the 5th season I was able to predict most of the action, even knowing in advance who was going to have some kind of accident. Martin and Louise's wedding night was more than over the top, as well as Martin rappelling down off a cliff and his most unbelievable experience in the snowstorm, no hat, gloves, topcoat. He is called to an emergency in the middle of the night and he takes time to dress in his suit white shirt and tie. I was totally put off by Bert's most unappealing character. Fortunately, the characters of Joan, Ruth, Mowana and Joe made the series almost bearable. All other characters became cardboard cutouts from one episode to another until I even anticipated their dialog. Relieved when it ended.
