First of all, just looking at the reviews this movie has got, says it all. You can't rely on reviews. Everyone has their unique individual experience and their reviews are highly subjective. With that being said, for me, this movie was a gem. The trailer doesn't do justice to this. Just like how you can't judge a book by its cover, you never really can judge a movie by its trailer and the reviews.

Watched this right after I finished the drama version of CITT. I loved the drama but wasn't satisfied with the ending. So watched this expecting a better version. But sadly the scripting and acting was frustrating. Hong Seol in this and the drama are different. In here I felt like her character isn't shown properly through actions and dialogue. Actually Hong Seol is supposed to be someone clumsy, shy, kind and someone who get used by others. But in the movie she was shown as rather straightforward, someone with a voice and not clumsy at all. Kim Go Eun did a very good Job and no one can replace her. The only good thing about the movie is Yoo Jung Sunbae is the same. Even for him I felt like some dialogues were not written properly or overestimate or underestimate his character sometimes. Even for other characters, The actors and actresses in the drama did justice.

A must watch. Unlike any other dramas Scarlet Heart Ryeo changed my perspective of the world in to a whole new different one. It teaches you Life and make you question it even further. It shows how the power and desire to control everything and everyone can ruin your happiness and peace. It shows how one small mistake can turn your whole life upside down. That is why this is one of my favourites even though it's a melodrama. It shows the harsh truth of the real world that not everyone gets that happily ever after.
