Okay . . . so if you begin watching this movie and cannot quite understand Everett's dialogue, please hit "resume at beginning" and keep trying. Sanger and Montague have come very close to nailing late 1950's speech patterns and jargon in these opening scenes, and throughout the movie.
Both McCormick (Fay) and Horowitz (Everett), and the supporting players are excellently cast, and had me captivated. McCormick is especially strong as a naïve 16 year old small town high school kid, with a maturity that comes from growing up in a single parent home. That long scene where she's in the town's switchboard room is definitely award-worthy.
Cinematography on this budget is better than many blockbuster flicks, capturing a small town at night in period. Patterson the director wrings everything from every scene.
I'm watching this one again!
