Incredibly long and boring. I got interested in the story in the middle of the movie, but once the action starts up again after the death of the incarcerated villain, it's like watching paint dry, corpses notwithstanding. I will have to watch Goldfinger to cleanse the palate.

I thought is was beautifully written and acted. The crictics who said the post dog theft second act was cheesy were way off the mark. The tension of the first half descended into a melodramatic hell in the second half. The nightmere seemed very emotionally credible to me. And I havent seen all of Julia Robert's movies, but this was the best that I have seen. Difficult to watch but very moving.

I liked it. Critics objected to the ending but to me it was consistent with the fact that this was a family drama, not a thriller. Family ,property, and class upward and downward mobility. The echos of the 19th century are strong. It reminded me of Wuthering Heights.

Its a great movie, with all the fun and cleverness many others have pointed out. However in real life, in Massachusetts, all the worthless hangers-on would be Democrats.

Well as a Republican I thought the attempt to conflate illegal immigration with the holocaust was stupid and offensive. On the other hand,its a great movie. The dynamic of human behavior of people in fear and under attack was moving. The actors are great. The lead actor looked young and vulnerable at some points and aged with fear at others. Let me be clear, I do not condone fascism. But the USA has no obligation to allow entry into of our nation of people who have nothing to contribute. This bears no similarity to persecution of citizens because of their ethnic backgrounds.

Dreary and boring. How could anyone think this is cool?

As many critics have pointed out, this movie is not a critical biography. However, for anyone (like me) who is a Tory and a brexiteer at heart it is a beautiful myth of people who were better at heart than we are. And the cinematography is stunning.
