Modern strong black woman, outspoken and and non-apologetic about being so, forced to relive the absolute worst part of the American history with regards to how black people were treated as slaves... my heart hurt for her... then came the plot twist... fantastic first time directors and Janelle Monae definitely gave a strong performance...
