This game tries so hard to be different from other games in the third-person open-world crime genre. Unfortunately, the only way it does that is by mixing up traditional controls, so that on the PS4, for example, the triangle button doesn't enter cars, the square button does. This counter-intuitive approach makes the game feel like a chore, rather than a fun escape. Beyond that, the gameplay is extremely repetitive, and hard to slog through because of that. The sad thing is, this game had strong potential. There were many things I liked about it, such as the system of dividing the city of New Orleans among your associates. Unfortunately, when it came time to divvy up the land, it was hard to know what land you were giving to whom, especially if you stopped paying attention for any reason. Of all the things this game does well, there are many other games that do them better. Don't waste your time on this one.
