I too had to learn a poem in high school and recite it to the whole class, My teacher wrote on my report about my voice being ‘breathy’ stupid teacher, it upset me when i read that, no other helpful comment. My mother had recently died and i was terrified reciting to the whole class. Over the years i wondered why i chose this poem, probably not really understanding it at the time. It has remained my favourite poem of all time, it comforted me. Now of course I understand it. Why did i choose it ?? Perhaps Devine intervention.
