Ellen Gilman has successfully done it again with her third book, "Fur-Ever in Her Heart," as a follow-up to "Mollie's Tail: To Mollie with Love" and "The Best Doggone Bakery." The familiarity of many of the characters and their “history,” as well as the settings, add to the pleasure of reading this book. Although I recommend reading the previous books, if you have not done so yet, you will still thoroughly enjoy her latest one.
When the protagonist returns to her hometown, following multiple personal and professional disappointments, the development of new relationships with family and friends provokes an interest for the reader in the characters and the plot. After all, we all have ups and downs in our lives.
If you have a dog or have ever had the incredible experience of owning one, you will greatly appreciate the emotions, antics, and personalities involved. Shelties and Collies play prominent roles; however, other breeds add to the flavor of this tale. Canine health issues are well researched and addressed with compassion and accuracy.
I highly recommend "Fur-Ever in Her Heart" to anyone who has a heart. You will laugh and cry, so have a box of tissues handy. This book is a fun and emotional read that you will not want to put down.
