It cannot be compared to HBO's Band of Brothers but for an Indian series, the war drama is pretty good. The storyline is pretty smooth and the human element eventually takes over from the sordid war that permeates throughout the movie. The utter hopelessness of the cause is also well displayed. The locales are awesome and the attempts to recreate a destroyed Burmese town and the British World War 2 era Sherman tanks are a great touch of reality.
However, one cannot escape some instances of anachronistic mistakes that creep in. A 1942 street in Singapore shows a red Baby Austin car (first manufactured in 1948) and a Benz 1950 truck (transporting INA prisoners to the Red Fort for trial). Another military maneuver that defies logic is the INA soldiers bunching together during an attack - the basic instruction in any army during a charge or an attack is to spread out the men so it is difficult to pick targets.
Overall a great first attempt. I hope this inspires other film-makers to showcase war drama - much bigger and better the next time. - 4/5 for this attempt.
