A real potboiler. I couldn't wait to see ithis film after I read the plot. Think about it. Russians and Americans enclosed in a sealed environment, subject to intense danger at any moment, but the fuse is lit miles below on earth in a world war. Builds in intensity till you're on the edge of your seat! We'll executed, we'll acted. Skip the Marvel crap for drama in its highest sense as it could easily be believable. Worth your afternoon in the darkness.

This is a masterpiece that sneeks up on you. An epic that doesn't feel like an epic. I believe we have to give credit to Mr. Phoenix outstanding, captivating and almost understated performance. Through him and Scott's brilliant directing we see an egotistical tyrannical genius showing the greatest of passion for his wife and country. In a period of greatest romantic dress we see gorgeous scene after scene whether it is N's coronation or the charging cavalry battle action. And we only have four main battles Ridley Scott focuses on, being Touloun, Austerlitz, the defeat in Russia that cost him his crown, and, of course, Waterloo. And that is very smart since having only these four thoroughly plotted battles we are not overwhelm, and therefore bored. We are held mesmerized by the charges, cannonfire and decimation. One of the most legendary love affairs in the world is shown in all it's complication and subtleties. Antoinette was an unashameful courtesan and learned the hard way how deep Napoleon's love was for her. They became a great love and Mr. Scott captured it's passionate devotion admirably. For me, this is a film that lingers long after the last scene at St. Helena. This is a film that will haunt

Three frickin' hours! Long time to sit people! At times hard to understand and the rapidity of the dialogue made it also hard to follow, BUT this is an amazing tale with tremendous depth, surprises and fascinating character and history. Oppenheimer was the Eisenhower of the Bomb. He got the right people together and got the job done. The spy situation was a tragedy, but no doubt the Russians would have gotten the monster anyway-as did the other powerful nations of the day. Pandora's box packed one heck of a legacy! My only other negative was the music played almost incessantly, sometimes to great dramatic effect. Other times too much. It was a driving beat that stayed throughout the film. But please go see this, especially if you a history buff. Very interesting, riveting. Well done drama.

Wonderful entertainment. Did not read the book so I was lucky to enjoy it as much as I did. I could understand why a person would trash it if they had read the book because a story of this magnitude is bound to be an incredible read, especially if this was written in first person, sounds like it was. BUT...one doesn't have to read a great story to enjoy seeing it on the screen. Well plotted, masterfully acted, and beautifully filmed, (sure made me want to go live in the swamp, it was so beautiful. At one point I thought, "Gee, if they just didn't have the alligators, the snakes,, and the bugs, how wonderful would that be?!" Then I had to laugh at myself, because then there wouldn't be any birds, or grasses,or swamp!) But this definitely great movietime and it will keep you guessing, who did it??
