Regardless of your thoughts on the plot, I have to say that the animation and music were AMAZING. The music created a nostalgic and "longing" feeling like how the two main characters couldn't remember each other.
The animation was really realistic, suitable for romantic animes. It created many beautiful scenes, like the scene where the stars split. In my view, the most iconic scene.
The voice acting was also good. It conveyed the emotions of the characters really well.
The plot overall was really nice. Two main characters switch places and try two find each other. If I were to criticize the movie, I feel they could have added about 10mins more of the characters socializing creating a deeper bond with the audience and making them a bit more relatable. Of course, it's just personal preference though.
Overall the movie was excellent. The director of Your Name, Makoto Shinkai is amazing. He has created many other excellent movies.
