Very Innovative, and filled with references to the deep canon of movies that have touched us before, it is a true masterpiece that will resonate for decades to come. It has a zany pace that is honest and true all the while with a sly wink of a con man who is charming and almost benign. I laughed at Gary’s antics, scheme’s and constant hustles wrapped around innocence, confidence and detached warmth. Sugar and salt always are a great taste combination of the chef who gets the blend just right. This director did… and the result is cinematic genius rarely experienced. Like any great artwork it’s filled with subtlety and beauty but also outrageous energy and squirm worthy moments of tension followed by laugh out loud humor. I’m looking forward to more from this director and his unlikely ensemble of actors and refreshingly original team.
