Kevin Costner is all liquored up on threads! He makes a lame attempt to weave threads into a saga about a town that grows up starting in the middle of 19th Century Montana. This film feels like the Star Wars universe inspired a high-school kid to write a politically updated remake of “How the West Was Won” and Costner preserved all of the kid’s clunkiness while producing it with Sky-high production values. Like “Dances With Wolves”, it is an expensive Kevin Costner vanity piece laboriously carried by absurdly wonderful cinematography.
