A great entry, but has flaws. Some of the lore feels quite contrived, without build up, and with the intent of subverting expectations (GOT ptsd anyone?). Some of the bosses do feel a bit overtuned in their hyper aggression and long, hard to escape combos. The map has areas that are relatively barren, and it can be difficult at times to find the path forward due to verticality. I know that the intent was to create a DLC Which had no bearing on the main game, but I would have liked to see some Titans with the story of the main game.
Absolutely nothing negative can be said about the art direction and the world which from software created. It’s beautiful, varied, and truly a joy to explore despite some of the map challenges. There are many new and fantastic enemy and boss encounters.
Ultimately, for me, the story of the DLC soured the story of the base game. It has made me view the story of Elden Ring as a whole in a new light, and it’s not favorable.
It doesn’t live up to the hype.
