(SPOILERS)
I dont even know where to begin. This movie is amazing. I'm not a big movie watcher or book reader, but when I came across the book, let me tell you, that my life changed. I first read the book in my middle school ELA class, and as expected, the book was amazing. Every day in school (mostly), we would listen to the audio book of the chapter while reading the book. When we first read about Johnny's death, i was in shock. My friend had already read the book, so they just stared at me laughing at my mouth wide open. I didn't know what to feel. I just stood there with my mouth wide opened, laughing, and upset. I knew it was fictional, and I never get emotional over fictional movies/books/etc, but somehow, I did. I had to hold in my tears, or else I would've started sobbing in front of my whole class. For Dally's death, I felt the same way. Although, I kinda saw it coming, considering he did rob a store and run from the police, and point his gun at them, so it was pretty much expected. But, it was still very sad. Another great scene was when Pony and Johnny got attacked by the Socs, and Johnny kills one of them. It's great to see that Johnny would risk his life to save Pony.
After finishing the book, we watched the movie. It wasn't the complete movie, because the scene where Pony gets jumped by the Socs, and the scene where Soda runs away were cut off, but I had watched those 2 scenes on YouTube once I was done watching the movie, so it was fine by me. Anyways, the movie was just as amazing. It was so realistic and detailed. It was very realistic, and as well as the part where Pony became sick from seeing Bob lying dead on the ground. After this, they both ran away to Windrixville and had a pretty emotional and depression state while being all alone in the church for quite some time. It really added the sense of reality and how life can be for some people. Very emotional to see Johnny and Dally die. It was hard to watch the scene where right as Johnny dies, Dally almost doesn't believe it, and grieves him. For example, he did things that he wouldn't normally do, and wasn't acting like himself after Johnny died. Specifically, when he robbed the store.
Overall, I think this movie is amazing. I would not recommend this to younger audiences, because some of the scenes may be tough. This movie is, by far, my favorite movie (and book) that I've ever seen.
(In my opinion, 13+ to watch - Smoking scenes, gun and knife scenes, blood, fear, intense moments that may be hard for some to watch, and 1 scene that includes a slightly inappropriate sentence {scene during drive in theater, Cherry Valance, Johnny Cade, Ponyboy Curtis, Dallas Winston}.)
