The movie itself wasn’t completly terrible, but I can’t say it was incredible either.Without giving away any spoilers, for me the movie felt like there was lots of scenes that I felt should have been expanded or just completly cut. There are times where characters who you thought were going to be important just weren’t and plot points you thought were going to be the main story that turned out to only happen briefly.
While I did love the humour of the movie and the graphics were enjoyable (as well as the return of the amazing cast of the original).I’m still disappointed about the character of Astrid.I thought her character was going to be exciting and fun to watch, but every time she did show up on screen I was ready to get back to Lydia.(even if it did mean having To watch the boring character or Rory play along side her, another character I was dissapointed about how he was played in the film)
You’d think Astrid going to the nether world and Lydia summoning Beetlejuice for them to be a team would have been the main plot of the story as they worked together for Lydia to save her daughter and Beetlejuice to get a bride while trying to run from his past and a cop who wants him for dead too.NOPE.
Unfortunately,I couldn’t exactly tell you what it WAS about because so much happened in the movie at once.
Overall,I did find the movie funny and did enjoy parts of it such as the beginning, but I’m sad to say when the movie ended (especially the weird way it did) I literally turned to my dad who I went with and laughed while saying “what the hell did we just watch?”
I never thought I wouldn’t like a Tim Burton film before, considering he’s a genius when it comes to film. But this was Definitly a messy film.
