Andrew Scott is great, but fell victim to bad directing and production in Ripley. Simple scenes feel impersonal and chaotic because there are so many cuts, with the camera constantly jumping back and forth for no apparent reason. If you want to be black & white and artsy you have to pull it off. It’s ironic that Andrew Scott was also in 1917, which famously has the least cuts of any modern film.
