Absolutely the most frustrating game to play on the Switch. You are forced to either use awful motion controls that allow free camera movement, or button controls that remove camera control. It’s like they designed the game to fight against you every second along the way. When using the motion controls, The controllers for the switch will constantly reset “center” on you. So in the middle of a battle where timing is crucial and you need to switch from your sword to a tool, guess what? You’ll likely have to fight with the system for a moment to reset center just so you can aim properly. In a battle where you have to swing at certain angles to defeat enemies? Hey, guess what. The game will register a right swipe when you are clearly doing a stabbing motion. Need to pull out that handy gust bellows to clear some dust? The game for some reason will veer off to the right side when aiming until you reset center… even if there is no reason for center to have gotten off in the first place. It’s absurd!
I’m all for a challenge, but this game is thoroughly unpleasant to play due to the controls alone. I have nearly thrown a controller multiple times because the motion controls just simply won’t do what you are telling them to do. Combine that with a game filled with idiotic fetch quests, and it makes me wish I never paid for it. The only reason I will finish it is because I love Zelda and refuse to be thwarted by awful programming.
