As a historian, knowing (to some extent) the complexities and absolute atrocities of British colonial rule, it was quite infuriating to watch details be glossed or inaccurately told. The history of the British Empire and India is way too complexed for this movie to portray appropriately. Like some commenters have said, you shouldn’t expect any less ignorance from a Hollywood movie, but it does worry me that this is the sort of history some people will expose themselves to without knowing the truth.
