You are surely expecting too much or watching against your will if you don’t enjoy this. Fast paced, snappy dialogue with dour Gosling a perfect counter to scene stealing, scene chewing Chris Evans. The film didn’t slow down at all. Yes, some of its a bit telegraphed but when it’s this enjoyable, who cares? Ana De Armas seems great in everything I’ve seen her in, no change here. Netflix proving its worth again here. Look forward to the sequel.

Given the first film is outstanding, original and still seems fresh 20 years on, I had such high hopes for another sequel. Ample budget, plenty of time to develop story and screenplay and all the advances in wire work,CGI and FX to benefit from. Plus a returning original cast and director. What a crushing disappointment. I felt like Brad Pitt’s character in Seven when he opens the box. How can the fight choreography go backward in quality? The story is an incoherent mess with elements from the earlier films referenced in a haphazard way like you are watching a deranged Matrix greatest hits compilation. Learning nothing from Last Action Hero, this film reminds you that it’s a film several times with dialogue at one point that comes across as an apology from the director. What wasted potential. On the plus side this makes the other sequels look masterful.

Feels like a series of set pieces strung together by a weak script. Promising start, Shades of the best Bourne films. But the lead villain is deprived of dialogue and deprived of menace thanks to a sub Iron Man style costume, and telegraphed origin Florence Pugh does well but David Harbour directed to play for laughs which helps skew the tone from something you hoped would be dark, like the Winter Soldier, to something more like a generic action film. Ray Winstone and his cockney Russian accent, awful, jarring and totally miscast. Another cliched business man villain the like of which has been seen countless times in mediocre action films. Marvel can do better than this and they need to.
