I wanted it to be so much better. It seemed like an homage to coming-of-age flicks from the 80s, but turned out to be a formulaic, occasionally gruesome by-the-numbers movie. The kids were good actors with the material they were given, but the script didn't have any internal logic or plausible sense of time.
