This movie is in my top 3 all time. Amazing acting, powerful plot, and very memorable scenes from start to finish! As I write this, it is two days before Thanksgiving, and every year I watch it this week, as I plan to do again tonight. It has become a Thanksgiving tradition for me! Even though the movie clocks it at over 2 and half hours, it always surprises me when I see the length because it never seems that long.
The chemistry between Pacino's character of Colonel Slade and Chris O'Donnell's Charlie is a big part of what makes this film. The two feed off each other throughout the film and the dialogue and intensity between the two is outstanding! The acting of the supporting characters such as Headmaster Trask, the school boys at the Baird School, and Colonel Slade's family also add to the charm of this film. I would recommend anyone see this movie at least once at then draw your own conclusions.
