Spoiler-free review :
1. DO NOT compare this film with the Dark Knight trilogy. Both are very different and unique in their own way, both in terms of plot and character development. (In my opinion, The Dark Knight trilogy is cinematically pretty and is what you call art, but Reeves and Pattinson have done a much better job at portraying Batman for what he truly is. The character is very comic book accurate)
2. People who criticised Pattinson as a Batman choice need to apologise.
3. Like every Batman film, the antagonists in this film are simply superb. Brilliant performances by both the Riddler and Penguin. Falcone decent as well.
4. Not much scope for fancy cinematography because most of the scenes are in the dark, but rooftop scenes, and the scene where there's no lights and the only source is the light from the gunfire (was in the trailer as well) simply outstanding.
5. The action is very realistic and bone-breaking brutal. Just how Batman should be.
6. We finally get to see the detective side of Batman, which had been missing in the earlier films.
7. The true idea of what Batman stands for was upheld in this movie. The fear the very BatSignal inspires, the turmoil of pain and emotions within him, him overcoming and rising above all that to do what he must for the greater good, and still finding his human side within the chaos; Matt Reeves has perfectly portrayed him as a symbol of both fear and hope.
8. The chemistry between the Bat and the Cat is one to watch out for.
9. There's obviously no humour or funny scenes so don't expect any. It's the Batman, not the Flash.
A lot of Marvel fans or non-comicbook fans will skip this film because DC hasn't been doing so well lately, but I'll tell you this, 2 months later, when you'll pirate this film on your laptop, you'll regret not watching this in theatres.
As a DC fan, I expected this film to be good, based on reviews and fan theories, but i must say, it way overshot my expectations.
Simply mind blowing ! 10/10 recommend.
PS : If you've read the comics, you're in for a surprise in the last scene. There's a very interesting character revelation 🌚
