Incredible! The VOSS bottle was such a good actor, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Fantastic!! It showed up in every scene and was a crucial part of the storytelling because everyone drank VOSS water to calm themselves down instead of just having a drink. Good that this was communicated throughout the movie. Most prominent came the question “Do you need sparkling water or still water” right after the main character killed someone and the discussion around it that broke out behind closed doors “should it be cold? There should be some in the fridge” Wow, what a dialogue! It never pulled you out of the storyline- not at all. It never felt like a 2 hrs long advertisement - never. Not even when they kept zooming into the bottle - not even when they close-up showed the broken bottle with the name VOSS still intact on a piece of glass! How did the bottle just pull that stunt off?! Incredible!! Shame about that broken bottle! But spoiler alert: The bottle wasn’t broken when the main actress came back to reality. What a catharsis in this movie! What a genius story telling. And then there was the rest of the movie.

We don’t need season 2 I very rarely write reviews, but this time it really made me mad that Netflix spent money on such terrible storytelling and rather decided to cancel ‘Marianne’ which was one of the best shows they created thus far. The plot for ‘Elves’ had great potential… and enormously failed! A more accurate rating: the show deserves -4 stars, 1 positive star for cinematography and 5 negative stars for one of the most hideous plots: The main lead is a young girl and unfortunately an unlikable, spoiled brat which - spoiler alert - survives the most dangerous situations. Throughout the series, the viewer is left to ask why her terribly ignorant and rude family survives while half the indigenous population dies. These shortcomings and all the other illogical human interactions are not the actors’ fault but the writing is just terrible. Finally, the viewer feels with the carnivorous elves who represent nature and another world. The elves did not ask anyone to enter their territory and abduct their babies and, to be fair, they were not asked if they want to participate in this obnoxious show.

This is an excellent show! Extremely well written and directed. The fist season introduces you to the characters and they develop in-depth in season two. In this season, the storyline and the actors’ performances are exceptionally well executed. The narrative, the visuals and the atmosphere are so vivid that the show makes you believe you lived through this area. Season three is all about each (remaining) character’s fate and where every character’s path is going to lead. Season three, playing in the eighties, might be more familiar to some audiences – many films/shows deal with similar issues, prostitution, homosexuality, a rising Aids pandemic and the politics at that time. Nevertheless, the third and last season is as captivating as the others. Indeed, this series is captivating!! I watched the first two seasons on one day (17 1/2 hrs) and after sleeping five hrs finished the third season. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
