(SPOILERS) (BIG SPOILERS)
I was pleasantly surprised by the movie, that being said there were a few things I didn't like.
1. How much we see them move, they just move too much. A lot of the threat was taken away by the unrestricted movement of the animatronics from roughly the middle of the film, it just felt lazy. If they had reserved the movement a lot more then the scares would have been better.
2. Abby + Animatronics moments, like the first one, they just seem more like living animatronics than the haunted ones we know, we just see them move TOO MUCH (there is a sequence of them building a tent out of tables and chairs for god's sake), not reserved at all. It's like they just at a point didn't care and wanted us to really think there were people in there controlling them rather than the ghosts of the haunting children.
3. Cupcake. I hate the cupcake. It makes no sense and doesn't fit in with the feel of the movie. This weird small aggressive OP cupcake that bites you, has no restriction of movement (super fast and basically flies) and once again MOVES TOO MUCH ON CAMERA.
4. Abby not becoming Circus Baby, they hinted that this would happen, showing us the suit and Abby almost gets put in it, but it doesn't happen. I feel like this would have been such a good twist after defeating William / Spring Bonnie.
That being said, there are things that they did REALLY REALLY WELL.
1. Special features. MatPat and Cory Williams are in the movie for short moments, the entire theatre erupted when they saw them on screen, really well done and you wouldn't realise if you didn't know them.
2. Spring Bonnie suit, OH MY GOD, this has to be one of my favourite suits in ANY movie, it was so well made and creepy, you can really sense the horrors that have been committed while it also looks really innocent, you can tell why kids were drawn away to their deaths. VERY WELL DONE.
3. The ending, Springtrap being created as William is dragged off by the animatronics to be sealed away in the rooms as the springlocks clamp into his chest, you can see him shaking in pain, setting up perfectly for the third game as the second movie, the building gets slightly destroyed and freddy's child closes the door on him while the life drains away, really well done.
4. Matthew Lillard. He just perfects plays the role of the job counsellor. Really amazing acting, as expected. In fact, all of the acting was well done in the movie.
5. The beginning, the sense of threat from the death of the security guard and how gruesome it was, set up really well for the movie.
6. The amount of unsolved mysteries in the film, when you think about it, there are a lot of things you can notice in the movie that make you think more about the world they're in. The car that the auntie drives up in and parks in the driveway (if i saw correctly, because it was only on screen for ~2 seconds) is the same car that we constantly see Mike's younger brother being taken away in, making me think that the counsellor (Matthew Lillard) was their uncle (why he recognises the name in the beginning scene interview).
Amazingly done film, spring bonnie and Matthew Lillard were by far the best parts in my opinion, I loved foxy running too.
Recommend to anyone, although I wasn't pleased with all of the Balloon-Boy jumpscares.
