Loved the 1st episode, Anson Mount (Capt Pike) comes across as he will make this a really enjoyable add to the franchise.
I already admired what Ethan Peck (just recently found out he is the gransdon of Hollywood icon Gregory Peck?) brought to his portrayal of Spock on "Discovery", and based on what I saw in episode 1 of SNW, I am looking forward to even more on him as he becomes a more centralized character in the new series.
