I never watched the TV series this was based on so I can't do a comparison. For me this was an action-packed romantic comedy that was a hoot to watch
The tongue-n-cheek comedy and subtle romance was the most enjoyable part of the movie. And the throwback to Miami Vice and Six Million Dollar Man was a nice touch. Highly Recommend
