And if the story is vague or non-existent (What some say), Then this is the core concept about the world itself in Souls franchise. Also don't forget The legendary George R.R Martin was the one along side Hidetaka who built this so called Empty world. And for those complaining about difficulty, What is even the point playing a souls game without that crushing difficulty.
