My mother brought me home this book from a coworker-- and can I ever vouch for how great it is? Everything about this book was absolutely astonishing, keeping you hooked pages and pages forwards. I really didn't want it to end! It was a mix between bittersweet tragedy and just outright heartbreak, but it concluded in the end to give Eddie the insight he needed to continue on to be one of the five people. Gosh, I could gush about this book for ages, but it broke me! I think the part that absolutely wrecked me the most was the flashback with Marguerite, and also the loss of Eddie's father, how his mother broke down and he took care of her for mostly the rest of his life. Eddie was so compassionate, with such a large heart, it was truly groundbreaking to see his character's evolution. The ending where Eddie meets the young girl that he tried to save really got me right in the tear jerkers. This book totally gave me the waterworks, but it was a good read! An amazing read, dare I say. I'd recommend this to almost anyone. I finished this book in math class during an insanely boring lesson and I did fight back the tears. Mitch Albom, you're truly a gifted writer for this one.
