** Spoiler Alert ** -- stop reading past this point if you haven't watched the movie
Let me start off by saying, I usually love Tyler Perry movies, but this one just wasn't it.
I know there's a running joke that Perry just can't stop making movies about black women trauma, but at least the other ones were decent to pretty good. This movie was incredibly rushed and sloppy with undeveloped plots, missing holes, and things that seemed to be downright illogical. Did I mention random? Because this movie seemed to be pretty random.
Grace "kills" her not-so-dead husband but oh it's the son of her alleged best friend who oh yeah has been running a big con in her basement for over 25 years by kidnapping elderly women for their social security?? WHAT lmaooo. Shall we move on to the lawyer now? Jasmine, who clearly wasn't good at her job and didn't want to do her job, was praised for winning the trial which was clearly by accident as she stumbled upon the whole mess in the basement (and almost DIED) that acquited Grace? I laughed way more than I was deeply moved/shocked. The only thing was Grace's character somehow did manage to elicit sympathy, etc. so her character was decently done.
There was enough plot twists in the last 30 minutes to fuel a whole new franchise with 5 seasons. There was too much in too little time, and I'm kind of disappointed that Perry let this happen and put this in his repertoire of films. I'd recommend the movie for the laugh, but not as an actual drama.
