I can't believe how little fanfare this show gets. This honestly is one of the pinnacles of Korean television. The subjects that the show focuses on is amazing. How broken and real the characters feel. Like I'm actually looking into their lives. There's no over-dramatizations, no ridiculous plot lines like corporate espionage or blah blah. One of the common criticisms I see is that the story line is depressing. Imagine having that same critique for a notable film like "Citizen Kane". Clearly, you're not the intended audience. I understand that some people watch Kdrama for escapism and fantasy. But this, this is art that doesn't provide any of that fluff. This is genuinely the first Kdrama in a long time that feels like it was made for specifically an adult audience in mind and it doesn't pander to any superfluous whims. The best way I can explain the show is a simple melancholy. Just absolutely beautiful.
