I was really loving it until they ruined it with endless baseless drama from episode 9. Insufferable. I had to basically force myself to finish it for the last 4 episodes.

I feel like people are giving this a bad rating because they hate JLo, but objectively, the movie was really good. The cinematography, the action, the futuristic worlds and ideas... Loved it! You most likely will too. JLo's acting is very good. If you can ignore your sentiments about her reputation and behaviour towards others, it's a good movie overall. I also feel like she tried to explain herself in the movie bits... Or maybe it's just me. If she did, I hope she's a better person now. That aside, it's was worth my 2 hours.

Having had already read the book, I'm amused to see how irritated elitists are about the cast choices. There's not a single series or movie that ever lives up to the book, so it's illogical to have that expectation. I was actually glad to finally give a face to Ye Wenjie. The series is BASED ON the book, it's not exactly the book come to life. The book INSPIRED the series. This was an impressively executed oeuvre, from the futuristic intro, to the trail of details, to the delectable cinematography. Very few faults are to be found here, and all are negligible. The producers did an impeccable job, waiting for season two.
