This was a fabulous storyline of pre-Israel. The first season jumps around a bit, but once you get the various fractions segregated, including the Ashkenazic and Sephardic Jews, Turks, Muslims, English and Germans, the story gives you a microcosm of that part of the world.
There are so many elements of general living included in this series - women’s rights, racism, sexual liberation, and psychological scars of war that are smoothly woven into its storyline. The episodes send the watchers along the storylines very smoothly.
