SPOILER ALERT:
Age old story which have been retold, repeated with unnecessary gore and violence towards animals. The references of animals to cast seemed to be interesting in beginning however the director failed miserably to cash upon it.
There are several aspects of hero in movie that are questionable.
1. His Martial arts dojo. Contributes literally nothing to cinema except for wasting time.
2. Pig farm. Initially appeared to be reference to cast/class of protagonist, but they get brutally killed by dogs, which is painful to watch also does not go hand in hand with story as at that point the hero is raising against villain not vice-versa.
3. Stalin's acting. Carries a poker face throughout the movie without any expressions. Does not provides the depth the character needed. Action scenes are quite laughable. The boy who played younger version of him, did a great job though.
4. Love interest. Keerthi comes across as super confused character who is aggressive when everyone around her is calm and when someone is fighting for a cause, she tries to stop them. One scene where she and her gang attacks rival institute, her performance seems over the top, desperate and pathetic.
Second half of the movie was just blatant attempt to mix socio-political issues with caste, which is told in a very predictable, boring and slow pace.
Good aspects:
Performance of Vadivelu sir and FaFa is the only best thing in the movie. Entire film is carried by the two, and they have justified completely. Vadivelu sir showcased the oppressed, humble, low cast politician in most perfect way possible. FaFa as usual is brilliant in role of a spoilt, arrogant and cruel man. It seemed he is underutilized.
ARRs music is good.
Screenplay in first 15-20 mins into the movie promised a lot about the movie. An attempt to tell parallel stories kept me hooked but did not carried well after that.
Overall, below average movie.
