I was so very much looking forward to this movie. Im a scary movie addict and had high hopes…. What a disappointment. I truly think the high ratings from this come from a place of hate for the Catholic Church. I have found, as of late, the reason for high ratings is movies has more to do with the political/social/ideological undertone of the movie, rather than its actual content. (And I’m saying this as a left leaning critic) This movie has no character development whatsoever, no foundation at its start and not a single cohesive train of thought. The premise was GREAT, but it completely failed to meet expectations. None of the premise came to fruition. I had nothing invested in any of the characters and didn’t care what happened to any of them, even the lead female character. In terms of being in the “horror” genre….there are one or two jump scares in the film but aside from that the movie lacked any sort of scare factor. Don’t waste your time…
