Excellent thriller. I almost stopped watching at the beginning because the scenes between Young and Costner were so poor. Young does her best but Costner is his usual wooden self, and the lack of chemistry isn’t helped by lacklustre scripting. Once that’s out of the way the movie really takes off and it’s a roller coaster. Great performances from Hackman and Patton, and Costner just about manages not to spoil it as long as he’s not having to pretend to have feelings.

Fascinating book. But also fascinating to read Kent Bray’s response here. I feel it would be a more satisfying read if Gary had demonstrated a bit more introspection, especially given that he’s had 10 years to reflect on events.
