Stranger than Fiction is a charming, novel tale interspersing reality and fantasy, well played by a sterling cast.
Principal characters are Will Ferrell as an IRS auditor Harold, who thinks he hears in his head the narration of his life as he is living it; Emma Thompson as Karen, the author of the story Harold is hearing but who is having writer’s bloc writing it; Queen Latifah as the publisher’s aide to Karen to overcome her writer’s bloc; Dustin Hoffman as a professor of fictional literature whom Harold consults; and Maggie Gyllenhaal as Ana, the person Harold is auditing, who also becomes his love interest.
The film is a modern, feel good fairy tale.
