*Heavy spoilers*
Was very much looking forward to Scream 6 after the performance in Scream 5 only to be spectacularly bored and disappointed. The movie missed the opportunity to subvert expectations of turning yet another obvious character like Ethan into Ghostface. Hint of how Quinn having a cop father aka Detective Bailey would make for a great cover early in the movie also rendered the killer reveal ineffective and not impactful.
Jason and Greg from the opening with their unhinged passion to continue Ritchie and Amber's film would've made a way better motive and killer reveal than Detective Bailey, Quinn and Ethan avenging Ritchie's death. Or to do them one better, Laura as a slasher film professor and someone in plain sight would make an even epic Ghostface, picking up where Ritchie and Amber left off and knowing she could get away with murder given her supposed expert knowledge on the subject matter.
It was also ridiculous how many times the movie brought fatally injured characters who were shot and stabbed multiple times like Kirby, Chad and Mindy back to life. Sure, it was just a movie and work of fiction, but at least make it make sense! And neighbor Danny who spotted Ethan in Quinn's room could've called the cops after failing to reach Sam, but instead stayed in his room the entire time and the best solution was to hand her a ladder when trapped in the apartment? Anika should've survived. There were three of them on the other end of the ladder versus one Ghostface; Danny, Sam and Mindy could easily undo the force of the shaking ladder and pin it down to prevent her fall.
Oh well, at least the bodega, shrine and train scenes were a treat.
