I was extremely disappointed to see that no matter where I attempted to post a review, my comment was never published.
I have studied Middle Eastern history for over a decade. Not only is this story not based in any facts whatsoever, it even embellished the origins of the Nakba! Do you even understand where the word came from? How the tragedy was that all of the Arab countries who started this war caused such chaos, not even able to end the newly formed Jewish state?
I understand wanting to explore a fantastical world of fiction. However, I don't understand how such a fictitious portrayal about an ongoing conflict isn't flagged as dangerous propaganda. During a time where antisemitism - also referred to as antizionism- is at its highest in America, and at a terrible point world wide, I am disgusted that Netflix is allowing this film on their platform. This film is flat out dangerous to Jews everywhere, which is exactly what this director intended. It isn't a film about truth or with any factual events, though the viewer will quickly sympathize with the girl telling her story. In truth, this conflict has so many layers, and none of them are portrayed accurately in this fable. Netflix, terrible call.
Summary: Propaganda film at its worst
