I stumbled across this documentary when looking for something school-appropriate to show my sophomores after reading "Night" by Elie Wiesel. At first, I thought I wouldn't use it because it's listed as a love story, but it's honestly just as much of a history lesson as well. It's really the perfect pairing with "Night" because a lot of the same terms are used in the movie, along with the historical events of the Holocaust. It has a lot of real clips and pictures so my students learned a lot. Furthermore, it's just the right amount of violence to get the point across without being too much for students to bear. I like that it wasn't full of bad language and could be watched in 2 class sittings. Great, GREAT movie.
