A great movie for the genere, starts with good premises, good acting, good progression. Like all the shootem up movies, the violence keeps building until it becomes unbelievable. A slower and milder crescendo would bring all the other good things about it to the point where it could actually be nominated for awards.

One of the only movies I’ve watched more than once, 5 times to be exact. It was a complete film, touched 3 or 4 different story lines, left no loose threads. Entirely believable and a masterpiece for Nolte, by far his best film, even though the critics don’t even list it in his best 15 films.
