I went into this as a huge fan from the books, like obsessive levels. I was disappointed. They butchered Nat Da Silva completely and most of the characters lacked the personality’s they had in the books. I am well aware that adaptations will be different but i wasn’t expecting it to be this different. It felt totally lacklustre compared to the books at times. I was expecting more… drama? Emma’s accent was better than i thought it would be and it wasn’t totally unbearable. I think the acting from the dude who played Max Hastings was amazing. Matthew Baynton as Elliot Ward did make up for the lack of excitement because I love him. I was super excited to see scenes from the book and how they’d adapted them. And we got none of that. I’m throughly upset that the ‘real men wear floral when trespassing’ wasn’t in it. Zain Iqbal i thought did i pretty good job as Ravi. All in all i’d say if you’re a fan of the books coming into this, prepare yourself to see something very different from the books.
