Although the plot and theme were interesting enough, the real (very serious) message was lost, execution falls flat and it is ridiculously cheesy. CH has obviously had personal experience with domestic violence but this novel did not end up doing her subject matter any real justice. The writing style was superficial, lacked discretion in the emotions or narrative intracacies it wanted to convey. l was shocked to read the epilogue that had such a serious message and felt that the author has romantasized red flags and subtly glamorised domestic violence.
