I've spent 50 hrs on the XBOX One version and I feel like the creators bit off more than they could chew. It's basically grand theft auto in the future and it's way too convoluted. I collected a lot of stuff in the game and there was a good chunk of it that I never used because the game doesn't really explain or show you why or how to use those items. I figured out how to use the medpacks during hour 47 of game play. LOTS of glitches, way too many to list and graphics kinda sucked. Everything looked exactly the same and the dialog was mind-numbing. I would have much rather dealt with cutscenes than having to constantly skip through each line and select multiple dialog options that bring you to the same conclusion. Going around killing people got pretty old after a while and the AI is frigging stupid. When you have time to kill it's enjoyable but not impressed with the final product after waiting years when they basically reinvented the wheel. There are other games with the same tropes that are way more enjoyable to play and far less frustrating. The final plot is basically season 7 of the tv show the 100. If they hadn't waited so long to release it the plot may have been more original.

I am on my second playthrough and the game play is entertaining but the story is pointless. Spoiler alert, the people that are Ellies age lived their whole lives in a brutal world and I feel it was completely out of character for Ellie to go on a revenge killing spree after Joel was killed. I feel she would have understood the whole "eye for an eye" thing especially if she knew Joel for what 5 yrs....and knew he killed a lot of people so she knew he had it coming eventually. I think the story would have been better with Ellie staying in Jackson and a huge horde attacks the town. Many people die and Ellie realizes that Joel did the wrong thing in saving her life so it turns more into a story of redemption. She spends the whole game trying to find the fireflies or what's left of them to help use her as a cure. Maybe she goes to Seattle to find Abby to convince her to help her find someone who can develop a vaccine. Then we see them travel down the West Coast towards Santa Barbara, i am sure there are plenty of no name baddies a long the way. Im just disappointed that they had years to develop a story and what they came up with was stupid. At the end of the game I found myself saying, "darn Ellie get over it..jeeez" and I totally disliked her at the end of the game.
