Soooo, I think Blink Twice was interesting but disturbing all together.
My first impression of the trailer was giving “demonic, supernatural island, horror/thriller/suspense movie film”, so I wanted to see it because I am into suspense/thriller movies.
While I was watching it, I was still intrigued and wondered what was going on up to the part with the “snake lady” screaming “Red Rabbit” (in which I thought she was screaming out “Red Robbin”). However, once I noticed how close the main characters, Channing Tatum character and Naomi Ackie, were becoming, without the film showing any romance or hints that they hooked up, I started to reassess my thinking to: “What the hell is going on in this movie?”
After, Naomi Ackie’s character regains her memory, she realizes every woman there along with one male has been brutally raped repeatedly over the course of their stay at this luxurious island they were flown out to with people they did not know personally or they did not know at all. I thought… DISGUSTING!!!! Even if they knew them, it still was DISGUSTING!!!
After the movie, I gathered my thoughts and I thought the movie wasn’t that bad. It seem to have a British/European “movie feel”. You know, “abrupt, vulgar, gory and straight up”; while the type of American film feel that I was looking for for this type of film would have been: a documentary, based on reality, or lifetime movie type of feel.
I think it had me guessing a little bit and I was not sure about what was going on, so I think it was good for that reason(which is why I gave it 3 stars).
Because I expected something different and instead got a brutal sexual assault film that was giving the movie “I Spit on My Grave”, I felt repulsed by it.
I don’t think it’s for everyone, but it being Zoe Kravitz first film is “Not bad”. It’s not worst than the movie “Dusk til Dawn”.
