Nolan’s Batman trilogy is the best live action adaptation of Batman to date, and this movie serves as a fitting climax. The beginning shows Bruce in a depressed and weakened state, as eight years have passed after Rachel’s murder and Harvey’s unraveling and death. He is soon brought back into the fold, and we get to see Batman face an opponent with the same combat skills and a very intimidating physical prowess. I think Bale’s portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman is at its best in this story, as we watch him overcome severe physical and mental anguish. The story takes some unexpected twists and turns along the way that add to the suspense, The Joker is missed here, due to the unfortunate passing of the actor who portrayed him; but Scarecrow fills in well and ties the storylines together. The story comes full circle with a satisfying conclusion, some great action and fighting sequences, and some compelling new characters added to the mix of familiar faces. On the slight negative side, there was almost too much going on at times to fully follow every thread as opposed to the other two movies, but that’s a minor complaint. Overall, it’s a very enjoyable film that manages to feel more epic and grand in scope than its fantastic predecessor, even with the unfortunate absence of Batman’s most notorious adversary,
