Brilliantly stark and edgy photography, fast moving plot with no wasted words. The message is that the officers are worse enemies of their men than the actual enemy as they support their privileged lives, reputations and facade of gentility by murder and brutality. Not surprised it was banned in France, although i'm sure it depicts military hierarchy throughout the world.
