The game is the first in trying to make an online team vs team Naruto game for consoles and it's...ok. The game centers itself on online, the biggest issue is that there's not much in this portion of the game, the main match types people will usually play are flag battle and base battle, there's also sometimes a free for all event that have players fight each other in the chunin exam arena. If you don't really want to play those, there are VR missions (It has nothing to do with an actual VR headset for those reading and are wondering if they'd have to buy one, no.) that players can play online or offline and level up their characters and unlock other characters from Naruto that can be played (To play as them, select a VR mission and go to battle settings and select which character you want to play as.) as or be your VR Master. VR masters can be used to assist you on missions and to unlock extra clothes for your created character and Ninjutsu, now there is a catch though, some VR Masters are dlc but you can unlock and play as them in game without the season pass by assigning the dlc VR Master and grinding out the XP to unlock them if the game is patched and up to date. The season pass is mostly for obtaining dlc VR Masters Ninjutsu for your created character, manly useful for the PvP (Player vs Player) aspect of game.
The game is definitely a bit rough, but it reminds me of the time when Naruto games were made by different companies on different platforms (2005-2011), the graphics are very similar in color and design to the Manga and kind of reminds me of the Naruto games Ubisoft used to make (Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, Naruto: The Broken Bond). There are some assets and some voice lines taken from the Storm games, but I like that they tried to create something new for the franchise, and for their first game (not sure if there'll be me) it's a bit bare bones but it's a decent start and it's improving as each new dlc character is being added.
