The concept and graphics are fun. The character development can be lacking. An example is that throughout the series whenever a character expresses an idea/discovery, they are immediately disbelieved and invalidated by every other character, even after experiencing multiple magical events together. The characters fall flat, and it makes the story boring, and makes me lose faith and interest. My other critique is that when the story flips between ancestral scenes and modern scenes, there is no indication in the actual filming, other than a change of costumes. A slight sepia tone, additional grain, or some other visual indication of a change in time could do a lot for the story overall. There are moments of lazy writing and predictability. I keep watching for the special effects and new keys. It would be nice if it could be just a wee bit more interesting.
