In my opinion, it was fine. I feel like it was a bit overhyped with every other YouTube ad I got being for the movie but it was by no means bad. In my personal opinion the ending was a liiittle dull because Mei was the only one in her family to accept the red panda curse. I think it would have been cool if her whole family agreed to get along with that side of themselves (though I see how it’d be inconvenient with her mom lol.) Totally felt secondhand embarrassment a lot throughout the movie. Also felt like some of her friends (Priya especially) didn’t necessarily need to be fawning over boys for half of their screen time but I can see the reason because they needed a push for Mei to want to go to the concert. Three stars cuz I feel like it totally has room for improvement but it didn’t suck that much.

As an older kid I’m totally not the demographic but Istarted watching this show as a joke with my friend and sister and we like to tell the characters the incorrect information and refuse to do anything that they ask us. After getting a few episodes in however, I realized this show is actually pretty engaging with some decent life lessons, so either my standards are too low or this is a really well done show. The character designs are pretty creative but the names… not so much lol. There’s a character that’s based off of a pillow and it’s name is… pillow cat. A+ names I love it. My favorite character by far is an art themed character called Baby box because she actually looks really nice aesthetically and the way the she’s animated differently than the rest of the cast shows that the animators had a lot of attention to detail. Also she showed me how to make a craft that I, a self proclaimed art kid, didn’t know how to do! My friend, little sister and I actually tried it out and it worked? So that’s fun and a lil bit hands on. Next time my friend and I meet we are totally gonna sit down and watch it again. 8.5 out of 10, way better than I expected.

By itself it’s a good movie. There’s only a couple issues I have with it but let’s start out with the pros, shall we? The music was really great, for one. Lin-Manuel Miranda sure worked his magic on this one and I applaud him. Also the character designs, animation, visuals, and colors are all gorgeous. The characters had their own personalities but let me use them as a segue into the worse parts of the movie that make me give it 3 stars. -The characters, although expressive and fun, barely got any time to shine. Camilo had nothing other than his bit in “We don’t talk about Bruno,” for crying out loud. -Was Alma the villain? Kind of? Still on the fence about it. - I don’t know too much about Columbian culture but I’ve heard a lot of people saying that they didn’t get it quite right and I feel like that’s an issue. - This one kinda doesn’t count but it’s way more popular than it should be. The fandom especially it ruining it by assigning incorrect themes and identities onto characters. (Camilo isn’t canonically gender fluid guys, he just shapeshifters!) Anyways that’s my hot take. Good movie but had some holes like anything does, and a bit overrated and overdone.
